Dr David Hughes AM

Australian Institute of Sport
Dr David Hughes AM is a Sport & Exercise Medicine Physician with 25+ years experience working in high performance sport. He is currently Chief Medical Officer of the AIS. He was Medical Director for the Australian Olympic Team for Tokyo 2020 and Rio 2016, and team physician with the Australian Opals at London 2012. Experience includes Super Rugby, NRL and English Premier League football. David is a former President of the Australasian College of Sport & Exercise Physicians (ACSEP). Current work focus is on system-wide protocols to optimise athlete health & safety, and ethical/integrity challenges in high performance sport. David is the current Chair of the Australian Olympic Committee Medical Commission.

Professor Morley AM (MBBS, FCICM, FRACP, FANZCA, AFRACMA, FERC, FAHA, GCertClinTeach) is Clinical Dean of the Royal Melbourne Hospital Clinical School at the University of Melbourne, and Senior Specialist, Intensive Care Unit, and Director of Medical Governance at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Over 25 years of involvement in the evidence evaluation process: including for the Australian National Health & Medical Research Council, the Therapeutic Goods Administration, the Australian Resuscitation Council, the National COVID19 Clinical Evidence Taskforce, the International Liaison Committee On Resuscitation [ILCOR] and the American Heart Association. Involvement in the generation and review of resuscitation guidelines in Australia since 1991. Involvement since 1998 in the development of ILCOR’s international evidence-based guidelines and Consensus on Science and Treatment Recommendations as task force/subcommittee member, Editorial Board member, and Evidence Evaluation Expert. Currently Chair of ILCOR’s Scientific Advisory Committee, Chair of Australian Resuscitation Council, and member of the ILCOR Board.
